About Norwood Public Access Television
Norwood Public Access Television is a not-for-profit corporation run by a volunteer
Board of Directors. Before NPA-TV was formed, Norwood's Public Access Center was run
by the local cable provider at their facility on Vanderbilt Ave. In 2003,
when Comcast renegotiated their cable license with the Town of Norwood, they
stopped providing the service. Instead, their new license provided the Town with
funding to be given to a PEG center formed by the Board of Selectmen. Norwood Light
Broadband and Verizon have since agreed to the same license and the Board of Selectmen
appointed several residents to form an independent non-profit corporation entitled
Norwood Public Access Television, Inc. A corporation that would take over the management
of Norwood's public access center. So while NPA-TV's funding comes from cable subscribers,
the cable companies have no affiliation with NPA-TV and do not dictate any programming provided.

What is Norwood Public Access Television?
Technically defined as a PEG access Center, NPA-TV is a TV studio, but unlike a broadcast station,
it is not staffed with TV producers, camera operators, and technicians. An access center is a
combination school and equipment library where Norwood residents and organizations are trained
how to use TV production equipment, how to make TV shows, and then are provided the free use of
equipment and cable channel time to produce and air their shows. In addition to running the access
center, NPA-TV is also charged with covering local events and producing its own television shows.
Programming on Norwood Public Access Television (NPA-TV)
There are two main types of programming on NPA's Channels: Public Access Programming and
Local Origination Programming. Public access programming is programming produced entirely
by Norwood residents and volunteers while Local origination Programming is programming
produced solely by NPA Staff, programs including monthly & bi-weekly shows, sports and
local events.

Where is Norwood Public Access Television Located (NPA-TV)?
Norwood Public Access Television (NPA-TV) is conveniently located inside Norwood Sr. High school.
At its inception in February 2004, Norwood Public Access Television worked with the School Dept and the
School Committee to come up with a unique arrangement: NPA-TV would fund and improve the existing
television facilities at Norwood High School. It is a partnership that has worked really well for all involved.
NPA-TV uses the facilities to produce their own shows and help Norwood residents to produce public access
programming and when school is in session, students use the facilities. With a tightening school budget,
NPA-TV has been able to provide state-of-the-art equipment and resources to the school that otherwise may not
have been funded and NPA-TV has a space that is used to its fullest.
